Oannes: The Teacher from the Stars
Berossus, an ancient priest and historian, tells of Oannes – a super-intelligent amphibious being who taught the Sumerians all the arts and sciences. This name is an ancient Greek translation of the name Ea – the Sumerian star god, half-man, half-fish.
Interestingly, later followers of the Son of God – Jesus Christ – also symbolically depicted him as a fish. This symbolism may reflect an ancient memory of heavenly teachers of humankind.
Was this ancient people so inspired by an astronomical event that they created a civilization? Or did the Sumerians receive specific help and instructions from representatives of an extraterrestrial civilization – those who managed to escape the supernova?
